INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis Colts quarterbacks coach Marcus Brady will participate in the 2019 NFL Quarterback Coaching Summit, where the league continues its efforts to strengthen the coaching and personnel development pipeline.

This year’s summit is being held June 24-25 in Atlanta.

Held in partnership with the Black College Football Hall of Fame, this year’s NFL Quarterback Coaching Summit will feature several assistant and positional NFL and NCAA coaches, as well as current and former league executives, who will serve to help “equip individuals working on the offensive side of the ball with resources, professional development and networking opportunities with NFL club representatives.”

“As part of our ongoing efforts to develop a diverse pipeline of offensive coaches and personnel, the Quarterback Coaching Summit is an opportunity for participants to further develop and perfect their proficiencies in game administration, offensive philosophy implementation and quarterback development,” Troy Vincent, the NFL’s Executive Vice President of Football Operations, said in a release.

Brady in 2019 is entering his second season with the Colts and first as quarterbacks coach, after being promoted from assistant quarterbacks coach.

In 2018, Brady helped guide Andrew Luck to league Comeback Player of the Year honors after he started all 16 games and completed 430-of-639 passes (67.3 percent) for 4,593 yards with 39 touchdowns and 15 interceptions for a 98.7 passer rating. Luck set single-season career highs in completions, attempts, completion percentage and passer rating, and he ranked second in the league in touchdown passes.

Prior to coming to Indianapolis, Brady spent 16 years in the Canadian Football League as a coach (2009-17) and as a player (2003-08), winning three Grey Cups during his CFL career (2009, 2010 and 2017). Brady served as the receivers coach with the Montreal Alouettes from 2009-11 before being promoted to offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach in 2012. He then moved on to the Toronto Argonauts from 2013-17, where he was the team’s offensive coordinator.

Brady was a star quarterback at Cal State Northridge from 1998 to 2001, and finished his career as the school’s all-time leader with 1,036 completions, 1,677 attempts, 12,445 yards and 109 touchdowns. He played quarterback for seven years in the CFL with the Alouettes (2006-08), Hamilton Tiger-Cats (2004-05) and Argonauts (2002-03) and completed 246-of-469 career passes for 3,321 yards and 15 touchdowns. He also carried the ball 122 times for 679 yards and six scores.

Brady is one of five individuals with Colts ties who are scheduled to appear at this year’s NFL Quarterback Coaching Summit. Also taking part are former head coach Jim Caldwell, former offensive line coach Harold Goodwin, former offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton and former running back Shaun King.
