CHARLOTTE – Former Panthers defensive end Mike Rucker has been named as one of this year's Legends Captains for the Reese's Senior Bowl.

This marks the second straight year the former Pro Bowler will serve in the role, where he attends practices and meetings and acts as a mentor for the future NFL players on the North. Rucker is joined as a captain by Pro Football Hall of Famer Aeneas Williams, seven-time Pro Bowler Torry Holt and three-time Pro Bowler Tony Richardson.

"These men were all accomplished players on the field during their playing days and each has done great things in their post-playing careers," Reese's Senior Bowl executive director Jim Nagy said. "One of our primary goals at the Senior Bowl is to prepare young men for the challenges they will face at the next level and this year's roster will greatly benefit from the wisdom and mentorship of these Legends."

During his eight-year career with the Panthers, Rucker tallied 55 sacks tying him for third all-time in franchise history. In 2003, Rucker recorded a career-high 12 sacks and earned a Pro Bowl nod while helping lead the Panthers to an NFC Championship and the franchise's first Super Bowl appearance.
