One can’t-miss highlight at the Bears100 Celebration in June will be a legacy panel featuring Bears Hall of Fame middle linebackers Dick Butkus, Mike Singletary and Brian Urlacher.
The three superstars all played their entire careers with the Bears, combining to appear in 480 games. Singletary (10), Urlacher (8) and Butkus (8) were voted to a total of 26 Pro Bowls in 34 seasons.
The Bears100 Celebration will be held June 7-9 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont. The event, which is being held to commemorate the team’s 100th season, will feature the ultimate gathering of Bears fans and current and former players. (Click here to buy tickets.)
The entire 2019 team and coaching staff, along with Bears Hall of Famers and alumni, are scheduled to attend. The weekend will include free autograph sessions, photo opportunities, panels, memorabilia and merchandise sales, interactive games, kids activities and a walk-though Bears history zone.
The three Hall of Fame middle linebackers will be front-and-center at the Celebration.
After being selected by the Bears with the third pick in the 1965 NFL Draft, Butkus was voted to the Pro Bowl in each of his first eight seasons. He was also selected as an All-Pro in seven of his nine years in Chicago and was named NFL defensive player of the year in 1969 and 1970.
An intimidating and relentless force who possessed an unrivaled mixture of talent, aggression and hostility, Butkus was selected to the NFL All-Decade Teams for the 1960s and 1970s, was named to the NFL 75th Anniversary All-Time Team, and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1979 in his first year of eligibility. Butkus recovered 25 fumbles during his career, which was an NFL record when he retired.
Chosen by the Bears in the second round of the 1981 draft out of Baylor, Singletary was voted to a Bears-record 10 Pro Bowls in 12 seasons. A key member of the 1985 Super Bowl championship team, he was named NFL defensive player of the year in 1985 and 1988 and was voted to the league’s All-Decade Team for the 1980s.
Selected by the Bears with the ninth pick in the 2000 draft, Urlacher was the face of the franchise for more than a decade. He was named NFL defensive player of the year in 2005 and helped the Bears win four division championships and reach the Super Bowl in 2006.
Urlacher started 180 of 182 games played with the Bears, recording a franchise-record 1,779 tackles, 41.5 sacks, 22 interceptions, 16 fumble recoveries and 11 forced fumbles. He was selected NFL rookie of the year in 2000, was a four-time All-Pro and won two Brian Piccolo Awards. Urlacher was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2018 in his first year of eligibility.
