The above average of 4.46 is based on the posted 40-yard dash times from McCaffrey, Samuel, DJ Moore, Ian Thomas and newly signed wide receiver Robby Anderson.

Samuel has the fastest 40 of that group at 4.31, the third-fastest sprint at the 2017 NFL Combine. McCaffrey posted a time of 4.42 that year, while Moore ran a 4.42 in 2018.

But the addition of Anderson and the unique speed of Thomas catapults Carolina into the top five.

Anderson wasn't invited to the Combine, but he clocked a 4.36 at his Temple pro day in 2016. Since entering the league, Anderson has 11 touchdowns of at least 30 yards, third-most in the NFL since 2016.

Meanwhile, Thomas tied for the fastest 40-yard dash by any tight end at the 2018 Combine at 4.74. His speed at that position should cause matchup issues for defenses that will have to worry about speedy Panthers all over the field.
