CHARLOTTE — Rookie defensive end Yetur Gross-Matos (concussion) did not participate in Thursday's practice after he was limited on Wednesday.
Head coach Matt Rhule said Gross-Matos was hit in the eye during a one-on-one pass rushing drill on Wednesday. His concussion symptoms then developed later.
Gross-Matos is the second major contributor across the defensive line to miss a practice this week, joining defensive tackle Kawann Short (foot). Short was as a limited participant on Thursday's injury report, an upgrade after not participating Wednesday. With Gross-Matoss unlikely to play at Tampa Bay this weekend, and Short's status in question, Carolina's defensive line depth will be tested.
