With the Bears ending their preseason at home against the Titans Thursday night, the team will continue its Community All-Pros Initiative.

This week’s recipient of a $100,000 grant will be Easterseals DuPage & Fox Valley. Representatives from the organization will serve as Honorary Captains for the upcoming game.

Easterseals is an organization that focuses on helping people with disabilities. The DuPage & Fox Valley chapter has been serving the community since 1942. Its stated mission is “to enable infants, children, and adults with disabilities to achieve their maximum independence, and to provide support for the families who love and care for them.”

“Easterseals DuPage & Fox Valley is thrilled to be selected as one of the Chicago Bears Community All-Pros organizations,” said Easterseals DuPage & Fox Valley President & CEO Theresa Forthofer. “The Chicago Bears’ generosity will make a great impact to the infants, children and adults we serve with developmental delays and disabilities. This $100,000 grant will allow us to create a new accessible playground to use in therapy sessions and for children in our inclusive daycare. Thank you to the Chicago Bears for helping children of all abilities play and learn together!”

The chapter is located in Villa Park, where it has a staff of over 100, including more than 70 therapists with a focus on pediatric rehabilitation.

The Community All-Pros Initiative is an opportunity for the Bears to show their gratitude to the community that has supported it since 1921. Ten grants will be awarded throughout the season before every home game, totaling $1 million.

Nine Chicago-area charities have been selected for the program. The 10th grant will be voted on by fans via ChicagoBears.com starting on Monday, Sept. 16, at 10 a.m. until Monday, Sept. 23, at 12 p.m.
