ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Broncos continued their GM search Saturday as they interviewed New Orleans' Terry Fontenot.

Fontenot, the Saints' vice president and assistant general manager - pro personnel, is the fourth candidate to interview for the position. Minnesota's George Paton, Chicago's Champ Kelly and New England's Dave Ziegler previously interviewed for the role.

Fontenot is in the midst of his 18th season with the Saints and his first in his new role. Before assuming that title, Fontenot worked for seven seasons as the director of pro scouting and another seven seasons as a pro scout. During his time in New Orleans, he has helped the team with evaluating and rating pro prospects, assisted in draft preparations and helped with advance scouting of opponents.

"It's felt like a matter of time [before] he'd get a GM opportunity somewhere," Luke Johnson of the New Orleans Advocate told DenverBroncos.com. "And after the Saints' continued run of success this season, it makes sense to see why so many teams want to get a look at Fontenot. He's had a hand in building one of the most successful franchises in the NFL these last four seasons, and his chance to run a shop of his own is long overdue."

Fontenot has also been linked to teams including the Falcons and Jaguars in 2020.

The Broncos will reportedly conclude their initial round of interviews by meeting with in-house candidate Brian Stark.
