ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Broncos have named outside linebacker Von Miller as the team’s nominee for the sixth annual Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award.

The award, which was created in 2014 in honor of the late Steelers owner, “recognizes NFL players who exemplify outstanding sportsmanship on the field,” according to an NFL release.

This is the second time Miller has been nominated for the award. He was also nominated in 2017.

Former Bronco Karl Mecklenburg is a member of the panel — comprised of four former players — that will select eight finalists from the 32 nominees.

The winner of the award will be announced during NFL Honors on Feb. 1 in Miami.

“The award is presented each year to a player who best demonstrates the qualities of on-field sportsmanship, including fair play, respect for the game and opponents, and integrity in competition,” according to NFL.com.

If Miller were to win, he would receive a $25,000 donation from the NFL Foundation to the charity of his choice.

Miller, who has recorded four sacks this season, is in search of his sixth consecutive double-digit sack season and his eighth career Pro Bowl appearance.
