ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Denver Broncos encourage all fans to wear purple in support of Alzheimer’s Awareness on Sunday at Broncos Training Camp powered by Ford practice at UCHealth Training Center. The team will be matching all monetary donations to the Alzheimer’s Association made at training camp on Sunday or online at dbron.co/alz.

"We have announced this morning that we are bringing back the incredibly successful and popular Alzheimer's Awareness Day at training camp on Sunday," Executive Director of Community Relations Allie Engelken said Friday. "So, Sunday July 21st, we are encouraging fans for one day to leave their orange and blue at home and come in purple to training camp. This was an event that we started last year as a way to raise awareness and funds for the Alzheimer's Association, in honor and alongside the Bowlen family. The Bowlen family have become leaders in the Alzheimer's community in Colorado by utilizing their platform for fundraising and awareness, raising nearly half a million dollars for research.

"... The team will be matching all monetary donations made on Sunday, online and in person at camp. We will be passing out purple rally towels, we have bracelets, and foam fingers. It's a great opportunity for fans to learn a little bit more about the association. There will be on-site with staff and volunteers to answer questions and talk about the upcoming walk to end Alzheimer's.”

All fan donations will go towards the ‘Broncos Country’ Walk to End Alzheimer’s team, a subset of ‘Team Super Bowlen,’ which will participate in the 30th annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s (Denver City Park, 2001 Colorado Blvd.) on Saturday, Sept. 14. Fans are invited to join the Broncos Country Team at the event, which annually draws more than 10,000 participants and has set a goal of raising $1.475 million.

"It is the 30th annual walk in Denver," Engelken said. "Last year’s event was the number six overall walk in the entire country, out of more than 600 and 30 walks. Our goal this year is to be number one in honor of Mr. [Pat] B. [Bowlen] and his tradition in making sure that we are rising to the top in every single thing that we do. So, we are encouraging the community to join alongside us, getting us to number one in Denver this September."

The Broncos raised $40,614.31 at Alzheimer’s Awareness Day at training camp in 2018, which helped ‘Team Super Bowlen’ reach a team-fundraising record of $115,000. ‘Team Super Bowlen’ has raised nearly $500,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association since its inception in 2014.

The Broncos and members of the Alzheimer’s Association Colorado Chapter will be giving away purple rally towels, bracelets and foam fingers on Sunday at the Alzheimer’s Association tent at UCHealth Training Center. Fans are encouraged to stop by the tent, learn more about ways to support and make a donation as they enter practice.
