ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Broncos added to their cornerback depth when they traded for Patriots cornerback Duke Dawson ahead of Saturday's roster deadline.

Denver sent a 2020 sixth-round pick to New England for Dawson and a 2020 seventh-round pick. The Patriots drafted Dawson out of Florida in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft.

Dawson spent all of the 2018 season on injured reserve with a hamstring injury. During the 2019 preseason, he recorded an interception, three passes defensed and three tackles on defense. He also played nearly 60 percent of the team's special teams snaps during the preseason.

At Florida, Dawson recorded 81 career tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, six interceptions, 17 passes defensed and two forced fumbles. He returned three of his interceptions for touchdowns, which ranks sixth in SEC history.

The 5-foot-10, 198-pound player was named a first-team All-SEC defender as a senior.
