The Cardinals have their starting quarterback, and that's been a given for awhile.


Now, they have a veteran backup – and a potential No. 2, depending on the growth of last year's No. 2.


Colt McCoy, who has been in the league since Cleveland drafted him in the third round in 2010, signed a one-year contract with the Cardinals Wednesday afternoon. While Kyler Murray is the unquestioned starter behind center, McCoy figures to compete with Chris Streveler – the 2020 No. 2 – for the higher point on the depth chart.


It was a big day for McCoy. Not only did he sign his contract, but before he flew to Arizona, he was there for the birth of his fourth child.


McCoy has played for the Browns, 49ers, Washington and the Giants over his 11 seasons. Last year, he served as Daniel Jones' backup in New York.


He has started 30 of the 44 games in which he has played in his career, with a 60.7 completion percentage, 6,455 yards, 30 touchdowns and 28 interceptions and a QB rating of 78.1.
