The Cardinals signed tight end Maxx Williams, a former second-round pick, to a one-year contract, the team announced Friday.

Williams was selected by the Ravens in 2015 but did not live up to his draft billing in four years with the team, accumulating 63 catches for 497 yards and three touchdowns in 42 games.

He missed most of 2016 with a knee injury and has also dealt with ankle issues. Williams was a standout tight end in college at Minnesota, catching 36 passes for 569 yards and eight touchdowns as a sophomore before declaring for the draft.

The Ravens selected Williams with the No. 55 overall pick in 2015, which Baltimore acquired from the Cardinals in a trade. The Cardinals moved down to No. 58 in the deal, where they took outside linebacker Markus Golden, and added a fifth-round pick which became outside linebacker Shaq Riddick.

The Cardinals’ tight end group now consists of Williams, Ricky Seals-Jones, Charles Clay, Darrell Daniels, seventh-round pick Caleb Wilson and undrafted rookie free agents Drew Belcher and Jerome Washington.
