Sloter, who originally signed with the Broncos as an undrafted rookie in 2017, spent the last two seasons with the Vikings without appearing in a regular-season game. The Cardinals saw him up close last month, when he played for the Vikings at the end of the Cardinals' preseason game in Minnesota. The 6-foot-5 Sloter completed 6-of-7 passes for 102 yards and a touchdown in playing the final 11 minutes of that game.

Sloter reportedly had interest from other teams but came to the Cardinals with the chance to work with Kingsbury.

The Cards also brought back outside linebacker Pete Robertson, who made the original 53-man roster before being released following waiver claims, to the practice squad. Four others were also signed to the practice squad: cornerback Jalen Davis, running back Justin Davis, wide receiver Johnnie Dixon and linebacker Kylie Fitts.

To make room for all the additions, the Cardinals released linebacker Vontarrius Dora and cornerback Nate Brooks from the practice squad. The Cardinals' practice squad now has the maximum 10 players.
