Chalk Talk: Will Montgomery be a workhorse?

I wouldn’t be surprised to see rookie running back David Montgomery win the starting job, but I don’t expect any of the Bears running backs to be a “workhorse.” Matt Nagy’s offense is designed to spread the ball around to multiple players, who all have their own roles and responsibilities. As we saw last season in Nagy’s first year as coach, it’s not the type of offense where one back gets 20-25 carries. I fully expect Montgomery, Davis and Tarik Cohen all to be utilized as ballcarriers and receivers. The same is true at the receiver position, where Allen Robinson II, Taylor Gabriel, Anthony Miller, Cordarrelle Patterson and possibly a couple others figure to be involved in the offense.
