Colts, Anthem Blue Cross And Blue Shield Honor Greenwood 'Angel'

Indianapolis – For the 12th year, the Indianapolis Colts and Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield will celebrate “Anthem Angels…Honoring Everyday Heroes,” Hoosier public and civil servants who have made community contributions beyond the call of duty, but may have received little public recognition.


One “Anthem Angel” is selected and notified prior to each regular season home game. Each “Angel” receives four VIP tickets, a feature story in the Colts gameday magazine (The Scout) and on Colts.com, as well as special recognition on the stadium big screen.


This week’s “Anthem Angel” is Scott Splichal of Greenwood:


Scott has been the vice president of Changing Footprints, an Indianapolis non-profit that collects new and worn shoes and redistributes them to people in need, for the past eight years. The organization has donated more than 200,000 pairs of shoes to churches, schools and individuals who are homeless, underserved or affected by a disaster. It also provide shoes to prison release programs, domestic abuse shelters, job placement organizations and more than 50 IPS after school programs.


On top of his full-time job, Scott has volunteered for the 500 Festival and Mini Marathon and several local hospices. He is a member of Perry Township Kiwanis, the KIDS committee at Riley Hospital, the Indiana Sports Corporation and the Southport Key Club. Each year, Scott spends his Thanksgiving and Christmas helping feed the less fortunate.


The Colts will accept nominations for future “Angels” at Colts.com/AnthemAngels through December 1. Nominees should be employed in human service-related professions, from first responders to educators and social workers. Nominations also must include a brief essay about the nominee, sharing their efforts that make him or her a hero.
