While the top college prospects have likely already worked out enough for the league’s 32 teams — there have been multiple all-star games, the Scouting Combine and then various college pro days since the end of the 2018 college season — this Local Pro Day is a terrific opportunity for some other players who might’ve fallen through the cracks to show what they’re made of.

Two years ago, center Deyshawn Bond (Cincinnati) and wide receiver Krishawn Hogan (Marian) parlayed their participation in the Colts’ Local Pro Day into eventual roster spots on the 2017 team.

Last year, defensive end Anthony Winbush (Ball State) participated in the Colts’ Local Pro Day at Grand Park Sports Campus in Westfield, Ind., and he would also eventually be signed by the team.

Both Hogan and Winbush remain on Indy’s roster.

And while a handful of prospects at the Colts’ Local Pro Days do end up getting selected in the NFL Draft, the event also serves as an occasion for the team to continue building its list of potential undrafted targets to pursue following the conclusion of the draft for the team's offseason roster and for rookie minicamp.

“(It’s) a good thing for us and our staff, coaches, to be able to get their eyes on ‘em, work ‘em out, see how they respond to coaching,” Colts general manager Chris Ballard said at last year’s Local Pro Day. “And you never know. I mean, anytime you get a look at a guy, the more looks you get, the more comfortable you feel with him.”
