MATCHUP
A week ago, the Broncos found a recipe for success against a hot Dolphins team. The ground game got its best performance in more than a year as running backs Melvin Gordon III and Phillip Lindsay each ran for more than 80 yards, and quarterback Drew Lock was able to avoid costly mistakes after a rough start to the game.
However, the Saints present a tougher challenge than Miami, even with future Hall of Fame QB Drew Brees out as he recovers from a rib injury. Jack-of-all-trades quarterback Taysom Hill — who completed 78.3 percent of his passes for 233 yards and zero interceptions and also ran for two touchdowns — played admirably in Brees' stead in a 24-9 win over the Falcons. The Saints offense is flush with talent, too; RB Alvin Kamara is dangerous as a rusher and receiver, and WRs Michael Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders form one of the best receiving corps in the league.
Defensively, the Saints are one of the best units in the league. They rank third in yards allowed per game, including second in run defense. Defensive end Trey Hendrickson leads the NFL in sacks with 9.5, and his counterpart at the other DE spot is no slouch, either; Cameron Jordan is a five-time Pro Bowler who was named to the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team.
INJURY UPDATE
Six Broncos were designated as questionable for Sunday's game, including starters Bryce Callahan (foot), Demar Dotson (calf/hand), Graham Glasgow (calf) and Jerry Jeudy (ankle/Achilles), each of whom missed one practice this week. Reserve linebacker Joe Jones (calf) and DL Sylvester Williams (elbow) are also questionable, though they were listed as limited for each practice. Safety Trey Marshall is out with a shin injury that sidelined him for the entire week of practice.
The Saints, meanwhile, ruled out starting left guard Andrus Peat (concussion) and reserve running back Ty Montgomery (hamstring). Wide receiver Deonte Harris (neck) is also questionable for the game.
