Below are takeaways from Thursday's media sessions with Offensive Coordinator Gary Kubiak, Co-Defensive Coordinators Andre Patterson and Adam Zimmer, and Special Teams Coordinator Marwan Maalouf.
Kubiak on the need to improve time of possession:
"I think it's important any week, not just this week. But two of the games that we've held onto the ball, we've played pretty well – Houston and Seattle. But time of possession comes from extending drives, making third downs, those types of things. And one of our weaknesses has been we've gotten ourselves in a lot of third-and-longs. So when it's third-and-8-plus in this league, it's hard to be successful. That's how people get you off the field. So really our focus is keeping ourselves on schedule and on third downs, and I think when we've done that, we've played pretty well from that standpoint. That's a big point of emphasis. Easy to talk about, hard to go do. We're working on getting better at it.
