GREEN BAY – Big Blake is headed to the Big Apple.

Former Packers linebacker Blake Martinez has agreed to terms with the New York Giants, the fifth-year veteran confirmed Wednesday. Martinez led Green Bay in tackles in each of the past three seasons and was the first Packers defender to do so in back-to-back years since linebacker A.J. Hawk (2012-13).

Martinez has a connection to the Giants. Former Packers inside linebackers coach Patrick Graham was hired as New York's defensive coordinator and assistant head coach this offseason.

Martinez, 26, started all 36 games since 2017 and 45 of 49 regular-season games in which he played in since entering the NFL as fourth-round pick (131st overall) out of Stanford in 2016. He also wore the communication helmet for Green Bay's defense in each of past three seasons.
