SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The 49ers built a huge lead in the first half and it was too much to overcome for the Packers, as Green Bay's season ended with a 37-20 loss in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday at Levi's Stadium.
San Francisco did everything right and Green Bay did everything wrong in the first half, leading to a 27-0 advantage for the 49ers. Gashing runs by the 49ers, plus turnovers and penalties by the Packers doomed Green Bay.
The Packers rallied with a couple of touchdowns in the fourth quarter, but it was too little, too late.
The 49ers' ground game was just too much for the Packers, as RB Raheem Mostert piled up 220 yards on 29 carries, with four rushing touchdowns. He became the first player in league history with 200-plus yards and four rushing TDs in a playoff game.
San Francisco finished with 288 rushing yards as a team, and QB Jimmy Garoppolo attempted just eight passes, completing six for 77 yards and a 104.7 passer rating.
For the Packers, QB Aaron Rodgers finished 31-of-39 for 326 yards with two touchdowns, but a fumbled snap and an interception in the first half were costly. A second interception came late in desperation time. Rodgers posted a 97.2 passer rating.
WR Davante Adams had his fourth career 100-yard postseason game to set a franchise record, getting nine catches for 138 yards. The nine receptions tied the team's single-game mark for a playoff game with three other players.
TE Jimmy Graham added four catches for 59 yards. RB Aaron Jones had 12 rushes for 56 yards and a TD, plus five receptions for 27 yards, and another TD, giving him a team-record 23 total touchdown for one season (regular season and postseason). Ahman Green had the previous mark with 22 in 2003.
