CHARLOTTE – The Panthers have released left tackle Matt Kalil.

Two years ago, Kalil signed a five-year contract as an unrestricted free agent. He started all 16 games at left tackle his first year in 2017 but spent all of last season on injured reserve with a knee injury.

Carolina released Kalil on the first full day of free agency, a day in which the Panthers re-signed tackle Daryl Williams. Carolina also signed center Matt Paradis, the presumed replacement for another Kalil. Five-time Pro Bowl center Ryan Kalil announced his retirement after this past season.

Prior to joining Carolina, Matt Kalil played five seasons for the Vikings after Minnesota selected him in the first round (fourth overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft out of the University of Southern California. He earned Pro Bowl honors as a rookie.
