The Bears on Wednesday released veteran nickel back Buster Skrine.

Skrine, 31, originally signed with the Bears in 2019 after spending his first eight NFL seasons with the Browns (2011-14) and Jets (2015-18). He was selected by Cleveland in the fifth round of the 2011 draft out of Chattanooga.

In 2019, Skrine appeared in all 16 games with four starts and recorded 48 tackles, five pass breakups and two forced fumbles. Last year the 5-9, 187-pounder played in 12 contests with three starts, registering 66 tackles, three pass breakups and one forced fumble before missing the final four games and the Bears' wild card playoff loss in New Orleans due to a concussion.
