Safety DeAndre Houston-Carson, who reportedly agreed to terms with the Bears last week, has officially signed a one-year contract to return for a fifth season with the team.
Houston-Carson, 26, was selected by the Bears in the sixth round of the 2016 NFL Draft out of William & Mary. He has appeared in 48 games the past four seasons, all as a reserve, and played predominantly on special teams.
Last season Houston-Carson appeared in all 16 games for the first time in his career and tied for third on the Bears with six special-teams tackles.
The Bears view him as someone who is instrumental to their success on special teams, similar to a quarterback of the unit.
