The Bears on Wednesday placed inside linebacker Danny Trevathan on injured reserve and promoted first-year cornerback Michael Joseph from the practice squad to the active roster.

Trevathan has missed the last five games with an elbow injury he sustained when Lions quarterback Jeff Driskel landed on top of him Nov. 10 in a win over Detroit at Soldier Field.

Trevathan finishes the season with 70 tackles, one sack, two tackles-for-loss, four quarterback hits, one pass breakup and one forced fumble. He is the ninth Bears player to be placed on injured reserve this season, following tight ends Ben Braunecker, Trey Burton and Adam Shaheen; tackle T.J. Clemmings, defensive tackle Akiem Hicks, linebacker Roquan Smith and defensive back Sherrick McManis.

Hicks was removed from IR last week and played against the Packers after missing eight games with an elbow injury he sustained Oct. 6 in a loss to the Raiders in London.

Joseph has spent the past two seasons on the practice squad after signing with the Bears as an undrafted free agent from Dubuque in 2018.

The Bears on Wednesday also signed receiver Alex Wesley to the practice squad.
