CHARLOTTE -- Rookie edge rusher Christian Miller made his return to the practice field Wednesday in limited fashion. Miller had been sidelined since injuring his ankle in Week 5 against the Jaguars.

Another encouraging sign, rookie offensive tackle Greg Little made an appearance, although he did not participate. Little remains in the concussion protocol and is working through the steps.

The Panthers were down two wide receivers at practice on Wednesday as both Curtis Samuel and Jarius Wright didn't practice. Wright (ankle) went to the locker room during the second half of Sunday's game with an ankle injury, but returned to the game later. At his press conference, Ron Rivera said that Samuel (shoulder) tweaked his shoulder laying out for a pass in the game.

Other non-participants included Vernon Butler (hip), Greg Little (concussion), Gerald McCoy (knee), Eric Reid (shoulder) and Shaq Thompson (ankle).

According to Rivera, Cam Newton (foot) did his scheduled rehab work inside because of the weather. Mario Addison did not attend practice due to a death in the family.

Christian McCaffrey (knee) was also a limited participant.
