THE SKINNY:

Last year’s switch from a 3-4 to a 4-3 base defense proved successful for the Colts’ defensive linemen, who hope to take yet another major step forward in 2019.

The team utilized free agency to bring aboard one of the league’s most feared pass rushers in Justin Houston, who has 78.5 career sacks and four Pro Bowl selections in eight seasons, and also returns veterans Jabaal Sheard and Al-Quadin Muhammad, while second-year defensive end Kemoko Turay looks to continue his development off the edge.

The interior of the Colts’ defensive line features several key returners like Denico Autry, a Pro Bowl alternate in 2018 who had a career-best nine sacks, Margus Hunt, who had five sacks and 13 tackles for loss last year, as well as Grover Stewart and Tyquan Lewis.
