ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Broncos have activated quarterbacks Drew Lock and Brett Rypien and Blake Bortles from the Reserve/COVID-19 list, the team announced Tuesday.
Lock and Rypien return to the team's active roster, while Bortles returns to the practice squad.
The three players were placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list on Sunday as high-risk close contacts and were unable to play vs. the Saints.
Under the NFL/NFLPA's COVID protocol, an individual who is a high-risk close contact must receive negative test results on five consecutive days to be removed from the Reserve/COVID-19 list.
The team announced Sunday that the three quarterbacks were asymptomatic, and Head Coach Vic Fangio said Monday the three quarterbacks had continued to test negative and that another negative test on Tuesday would allow the players to return.
UCHealth Training Center remained closed Tuesday under the NFL's decision to close facilities league-wide to start the week, but Lock, Rypien and Bortles will be able to rejoin their teammates at practice on Wednesday.
Fangio said Monday the team had not yet discussed whether to isolate Bortles in case of another emergency, but he said he believed the Broncos would "be fine" if they follow the league's COVID protocols.
Lock and Co. are now eligible to play against the Chiefs in Week 13.
