Miller: My job is to sack QB and I didn't hit Carr once (Kevin Patra, NFL.com)

"My job is to sack the quarterback and I didn't get to him once, not even a quarterback hit," Miller said after the tilt. "Disappointed in myself on an individual level. They were throwing the ball quick, but we have to find a way to get there."

Fangio laments lost chances in the red zone (Ryan O’Halloran, The Denver Post)

Five highlights from Broncos coach Vic Fangio’s news conference on Tuesday, hours after the season opening 24-16 loss to the Oakland Raiders.

Upon further review: What worked, what didn’t in the Broncos’ sloppy loss to the Raiders (Nicki Jhabvala, The Athletic)

The Broncos’ 24-16 loss to the Raiders appeared more lopsided than the score showed, as Denver’s defense struggled to get off the field and its offense struggled to finish drives. Mistakes that haunted the Broncos in the last three seasons resurfaced once more.

But Elway — along with new head coach Vic Fangio — said they were “disappointed but not discouraged” by the Broncos’ Week 1 showing. Disappointed by the loss, of course, but hopeful because of signs of promise. Signs that were masked by the mistakes.

Vic Fangio makes a case for why Broncos Country shouldn’t be discouraged (Zac Stevens, BSN Denver)

“If we can just get our points when they are there to be gotten, not get sacked or get penalized out of field goal range,” Fangio said, explaining why he isn’t discouraged, even after starting 0-1. “Our issues offensively were we got in field goal range three times and got knocked back either by a sack or a penalty and couldn’t attempt the field goal… Three drives where we are in field goal range with the wind at our back.”
