ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Broncos have released defensive lineman Timmy Jernigan, the team announced Tuesday.

Denver initially signed Jernigan on Sept. 30 ahead of their Week 4 game against the Jets, and he appeared sparingly in each of Denver's last two games. He played 11 defensive snaps for the Broncos before being released Tuesday.

Denver added to its depth on the defensive line ahead of Week 6, as the Broncos promoted Sylvester Williams to the active roster from the practice squad.

After releasing Jernigan, the Broncos did not immediately make a corresponding move and currently have an open spot on their active roster.

Head Coach Vic Fangio said Monday that cornerback A.J. Bouye and defensive ends Dre'Mont Jones and DeMarcus Walker all had a chance to play Sunday against the Chiefs. All three players are on injured reserve and must be elevated to the active roster in order to play. The Broncos now have one free spot on their open roster, which could be assumed by any of those three players, a practice squad player or an outside signing.
