ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Broncos made a splash in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
Denver selected offensive lineman Dalton Risner and quarterback Drew Lock with the 41st- and 42nd-overall picks, respectively.
The Broncos traded the 52nd-overall, 125th-overall and 182nd-overall picks to Cincinnati to move up to the 42nd pick and select Lock.
"Dalton bring great versatility to our OL along w/toughness and attitude," President of Football Operations/General Manager John Elway tweeted Friday. "Drew was a four-year starter in the SEC, and he’s going to learn from Joe [Flacco] and compete for the backup role."
Risner, a Colorado native who played his high school football at Wiggins, was a second-team All-American during his redshirt senior season at Kansas State. The 6-foot-5, 312-pound player was also named first-team All-Big 12 and the Big 12 Offensive Lineman of the Year in 2018.
He is only the fourth lineman in Big 12 history to earn first-team All-Conference honors in three consecutive seasons. Though Risner played tackle at Kansas State, he is believed to have positional versatility at the professional level.
