The offensive line of the Cardinals may have gotten another piece.
Veteran Brian Winters, who started nine games at right guard for the AFC East champion Bills last season and played in all 16 games, agreed to a one-year deal with the Cards Monday. He becomes another option to start at right guard, joining Justin Murray, who closed 2020 as the starter, as well as 2020 third-round pick Josh Jones. The deal is official after Winters passes a physical.
The Cards also are bringing back reserve interior offensive lineman Max Garcia, who also agreed to a one-year contract.
Winters, who will turn 30 this offseason, was a 2013 third-round pick of the Jets. He played in New York through 2019 before going to Buffalo last offseason. The 6-foot-4, 320-pounder has started 88 of 105 games in his first eight seasons.
Quarterback Kyler Murray had dropped hints on social media he was hoping for offensive line improvements. The Cards have made moves.
The Cardinals already traded for Rodney Hudson to play center and re-signed Kelvin Beachum, who was a solid right tackle in 2020. D.J. Humphries, who had his best season at left tackle in 2020, and Justin Pugh, who was praised by GM Steve Keim for his play at left guard, fill out the offensive line.
Garcia appeared in 14 games last season, playing 69 total fill-in snaps on the line.
