How did rookie receiver Riley Ridley look during offseason practices?
Ron S.
Davie, Florida

With the aforementioned Anthony Miller sidelined this offseason, rookie fourth-round pick Riley Ridley took advantage of expanded playing time. He really impressed coaches with his maturity, route-running ability and hands. Here’s what coach Matt Nagy said about Ridley last week before the Bears broke for the summer: “He’s a really good route runner. His attention to detail is really high, and now I think the game is slowly starting to slow down for him. He has very natural hands, so when the ball is in the air he’s a 50/50 guy, and he’ll get those footballs.”

What role do you see tight end Adam Shaheen filling this season?
Brett G.
Homewood, Illinois

It seems as if that remains a work in progress and likely will be solidified more in training camp and the preseason. Of course, the most important thing for Adam Shaheen is staying healthy. He was performing well last summer before suffering a leg injury in a preseason game in Denver that forced him to miss half the regular season. Here’s what coach Matt Nagy recently had to say about Shaheen’s potential role in the offense: “We’re trying to figure out what routes, what concepts do we like. What does he do best? So we could work off of his strengths and then whatever weaknesses he has, we’ll either stay away from them or we’ll try to get them better. But it’s a good problem for me as an offensive play-caller that we have a lot of weapons that we will feel good about, and they’re all different flavors in regards to sizes and speeds and attributes.”
