Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury confirmed Wednesday morning what had been feared since defensive lineman Corey Peters was carted from the field Sunday after hurting his knee against the Bills -- that Peters is out for the rest of the season.


The NFL Network reported it was a torn patellar tendon.


It is a brutal loss for a defensive line that has been hammered by injuries, but also to a locker room that benefits greatly from the leadership of the veteran.


Defensive coordinator Vance Joseph said Peters was the player who addressed the defense at halftime of the first Seattle game after a poor first half.


"Corey kind of pulled the guys together and got them back on track," Joseph said. "He is the veteran in the room who is the calming voice, in addition to playing really good football this year and last year for us. He's going to be missed.


"That's a big loss for us. But we have guys waiting to step in."


The Cardinals play Thursday night in Seattle.


The Cardinals have healthy on the 53-man roster Josh Mauro, Angelo Blackson and Trevon Coley, while Jordan Phillips has been dealing with a hamstring injury and missed the game against the Bills. The Cards also can elevate Michael Dogbe from the practice squad.


Two defensive linemen on injured reserve who were eligible to return this week if healthy -- Zach Allen and Rashard Lawrence -- are not yet ready and will not play against the Seahawks, Kingsbury said.


"We'll have enough guys to play," Kingsbury added.
