Fans were not permitted to attend Bears games at Soldier Field last season due to COVID-19, but that's about to change in a major way.

Team president/CEO Ted Phillips on Wednesday sent a letter to season ticket holders welcoming them back to Soldier Field at full capacity for the 2021 season.

"Your patience and loyalty over the past 15 months is appreciated," Phillips wrote. "We are thankful and humbled by the unwavering passion you have shared with us. Once again, it's time to enjoy Bears football in-person!"

In the letter, Phillips assured fans that all efforts to provide a safe gameday experience will continue. Many of the health and safety guidelines that were implemented over the past year will remain in place, including deep cleaning and disinfecting protocols and hand sanitizing stations located throughout the stadium. Fully vaccinated fans and staff will not be required to wear a face covering, but it will be encouraged for those who are not fully vaccinated.

Phillips also revealed that a limited number of fans will be able to attend training camp practices at Halas Hall this summer—with details to come later this month—and that the Bears plan to hold a Meijer Family Fest practice at Soldier Field Tuesday, Aug. 3.
