Former Bears running back Cyril Pinder passed away Saturday at the age of 74.

Pinder spent two seasons with the Bears in 1971-72, appearing in 25 games with 10 starts and rushing for 611 yards and four touchdowns on 150 carries and catching 11 passes for 64 yards.

Pinder was selected by the Eagles in the second round of the 1968 draft out of Illinois. He spent his first three NFL seasons with Philadelphia before being traded to the Bears Sept. 13, 1971 in exchange for second- and fourth-round picks. He was acquired to bolster depth at the running back position while Gale Sayers was recovering from a knee injury.

After playing a final NFL season with the Dallas Cowboys in 1973, Pinder spent the next two years in the World Football League with the Chicago Fire in 1974 and the Chicago Winds in 1975.

After retiring from football, Pinder worked as an investment banker as well as an account executive in the sales department at WLS-Channel 7 and WMAQ-Channel 5 in Chicago.
