INDIANAPOLIS — Tight end Eric Ebron, who has spent the last two seasons with the Indianapolis Colts, will sign a free agent deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Ebron, 26, originally signed with the Colts as a free agent in 2018, and would go on to have a career year in his first season in Indy. In all, he logged 66 receptions for 750 yards and 13 touchdowns (a single-season franchise record by a tight end), as well as a rushing score, and earned his first-career Pro Bowl selection in the process.

Ebron couldn't find the same consistency in 2019, however, and would eventually be placed on injured reserve with nagging ankle injuries. He finished the year with 31 receptions for 375 yards and three touchdowns before his season came to an end on Nov. 25.

The Colts enter the new league year with six tight ends on their offseason roster, most notably starter and two-time Pro Bowler Jack Doyle and Mo Alie-Cox, who played in all 16 games last season in a reserve role.

Others vying for a spot at the tight end position include Billy Brown, Ian Bunting, Xavier Grimble and Matt Lengel.
