The Green Bay Packers Foundation has awarded $250,000 in impact grants to Brown County and Milwaukee County nonprofit organizations that support children. Ten organizations, six in Brown County and four in Milwaukee County, will each receive an impact grant of $25,000.

The grants have been awarded to groups that provide childcare, mentoring services or educational support to children. With the COVID-19 pandemic continuing to burden an already fragile system in many communities and creating further challenges for children and families, these grants will help provide much-needed support.

Brown County organizations receiving a grant include Boys & Girls Club of Greater Green Bay (directed toward child care and academic support for elementary students), Encompass Early Education and Care, Greater Green Bay YMCA (directed toward Y Learning Academy), Howe Community Resource Center, Oneida Child Care Center and YWCA of Greater Green Bay (directed toward YWCA Child Care & Learning Center).

Milwaukee County organizations receiving a grant include Boys & Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee (directed toward in-Club support for students learning virtually), Ebenezer Child Care Centers, Penfield Children's Center and United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County (directed toward Techquity).

The Packers Foundation has awarded more than $5.5 million in impact grants since 2013, and has distributed more than $14.6 million for charitable purposes since it was established in 1986. Overall, including $500,000 in impact grants given in 2020 to groups in Milwaukee County and Brown County for COVID-19 relief, $1 million awarded in annual grants to nonprofits throughout Wisconsin and $250,000 awarded to Give BIG Green Bay, a total of $2 million has been awarded through Packers Foundation grants this past year.

The $2 million awarded through the Packers Foundation adds to several notable donations given this year through Packers Give Back, the organization's all-encompassing community outreach initiative, to help those impacted by the pandemic and to address social justice concerns. In total, the Packers organization has awarded $4.5 million in grants to nonprofit organizations thus far in 2020-21.

A component of the Green Bay Packers Give Back program, the grants, combined with other Green Bay Packers charity endeavors, contribute to a comprehensive Packers charity impact that was in excess of $9 million in the past year. The Green Bay Packers Foundation Trustees include Tom Cardella (chairperson), Marcia Anderson, Nancy Armbrust, Susan Finco, Jeffrey Joerres, DJ Long Jr., Larry McCarren, Dexter McNabb, Eric Torkelson and Mike Weller.
