On Wednesday, Jaguars coach Doug Marrone said that Glennon and Gardner Minshew were competing in practice for the starting spot against the Bears.
"We told both players, Mike and Gardner, we're going to split the reps and see how practice goes," Marrone said. "We're doing that in a couple different [positions]. They're not the only position. We're looking at some other players and saying, 'Hey, whoever has the best week of practice [will start],' and make sure we get the right guy out there that can do the game plans that we need to win. We have a competition going on and we'll see who does well."
Minshew started the Jaguars' first seven games this season before being sidelined by a thumb injury. Jake Luton initially replaced Minshew, but the rookie sixth-round pick struggled in three starts and was benched in favor of Glennon. In three starts, Glennon completed 61.0 percent of his passes for 600 yards with three TDs, three interceptions and a 75.4 passer rating.
Minshew returned to start last Sunday against the Ravens, passing for 226 yards and two touchdowns in a 40-14 loss in Baltimore. This season Minshew has connected on 66.1 percent of his passes for 2,259 yards with 16 TDs and five interceptions. His 95.9 passer rating would be the highest in NFL history by a quarterback with one or fewer wins in a season and a minimum of eight starts since at least 1950.
Injury update: The Bears on Saturday downgraded tight end Demetrius Harris from doubtful to out of Sunday's game due to a foot injury.
