CHARLOTTE – The Panthers have signed linebacker Sione Teuhema, who took part in the Panthers’ recent rookie minicamp.
To make room on the 90-man roster, Carolina waived defensive tackle T.J. Barnes.
Undrafted out of Southeastern Louisiana in 2018, Teuhema participated in rookie camps with the Bears and Jets as a rookie and then played for the Arizona Hotshots of the now-defunct Alliance of American Football.
The 6-foot-4, 250-pounder was a Football Championship Subdivision All-America at Southeastern Louisiana in 2017 after leading the nation in tackles for loss per game. Teuhema tied a school record with 19 tackles for loss as a senior, to go with 80 tackles and nine sacks.
Teuhema was a reserve for two seasons at LSU before transferring to Southeastern Louisiana.
